Welcome to the FIG e-Newsletter, which brings you latest information about the FIG and its activities. The information referred here is in full length available on the FIG web site. Thus the e-Newsletter is produced to inform you what has happened recently and what interesting things are going to take place in the near future. The referred articles are in English and written in a way that you are able to extract them to your national newsletters or circulate to your members.
Article of the Month – January 2009
On the FIG web site we publish each month a paper called the Article of the Month. This is a high-level paper focusing on interesting topics to all surveyors. It can be picked up from an FIG conference or another event. The Article of the Month in January 2009 is written by Prof. Bela Markus, Chair of FIG Commission 2 from Hungary. His paper “Thinking about e-Learning” was prepared and presented as a keynote presentation at the FIG International Workshop 2008 ”Sharing Good Practices: E-learning in Surveying, Geo-information Sciences and Land Administration” in Enschede, the Netherlands, 11-13 June 2008. FIG Working Week 2009 - Surveyors Key Role in Accelerated Development, Eilat, Israel, 3-8 May 2009
The organisers of FIG Working Week 2009 have received almost 300 proposals for presentations. Deadline for abstracts for non peer review papers has passed but still some late coming proposals will be considered. The authors have been informed about the acceptance of their papers and the preliminary programme will be posted on the conference web site by 26 January 2009. Preparations for FIG Working Week 2009 in Eilat in Good Progress - Plenary Session Programme Confirmed during the Visit of FIG Director - Tel Aviv and Eilat, Israel, 5-9 January 2009
FIG Director visited Israel 5-9 January 2009 to prepare the FIG Working Week 2009 and to meet with the representatives of the Associations of Licensed Surveyors in Israel, ALSI, and Survey of Israel to settle the remaining open issues related to the conference. The FIG Working Week 2009 will be held at Dan Eilat Hotel and Herods Hotel in Eilat at the on the southernmost edge of Israel from 3rd to 8th May 2009. FIG Representatives visit Morocco to launch the FIG Working Week 2011 - Rabat and Marrakech, Morocco, 16-20 December 2008
FIG President Prof. Stig Enemark, Vice President Dr. Dalal S. Alnaggar and the FIG Director visited Morocco 16-20 December 2008 in conjunction to the launch of the FIG Working Week 2011. During the visit they attended the seminar organised by ONIGT and had meetings with the Council of ONIGT, the organising committee of FIG 2011, representatives of the Moroccan government, parliament and as well as tourism authorities.
