If an Information Technology (IT) system requirements specification is poorly formulated, incorrect, or incomplete, the system procured may never be fit for purpose; industry risks bad publicity; the purchaser has to allocate additional funding to rectify the IT system; or even worse, the purchaser risks that the IT system will never be useable by the intended end users.

This talk will examine a case study that illustrates the consequences of a poor requirements specification. The talk will addess measures that were undertaken to rectify the situation in order to 'save' the project. This talk will also examine a success story, where the requirements were well specified. Specifically, it will address how much easier everyone's job is when a specification is well formulated. Finally the talk will touch upon the types of common mistakes observed in IT system specifications, as well as the differences between end user requirements and an IT system specification.

The presentation will be given by Gina Venezia, who works as a Requirements Manager at a Multi-National Governmental Agency.

The presentation will be given in English.
