About this event

  • 1 day 8 hours

In recognition of the key importance of public food procurement for accelerating progress towards SDGs, the 2-day conference stands to offer cities skills and tools to maximise opportunities for using public food procurement as a lever for more sustainable food systems and healthy school meals. By targeting cities’ food policy officers and stakeholders responsible for meals of schoolchildren aged 1-16, a series of technical workshops, debates and field visits are organized.

The conference is organised by the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP), the Municipality of Copenhagen and Roskilde University and takes place within the framework of the Horizon 2020 Food Trails project and the Cities Feeding the Future Initiative.

Conference topics will cover:

  • Food policy and multilevel governance
  • Sustainable and innovative food procurement
  • Behavioural science and education
  • Citizen engagement
  • Competence building
  • Circular economy

Agenda:

  • Day 1, hosted by IDA Urban Food Systems, presents the planned and expected initiatives for the urgent food system transitions. These will be presented by experts with key roles in international bodies in food policy science. At the end of the day, you have the opportunity to gain insights into results and experiences with sustainable meals from various EU perspectives and get a tour of one of Copenhagen's Food Schools.
  • Day 2, hosted by the Municipality of Copenhagen, is dedicated to in-depth discussions, inspiring speeches, and interactive workshops centred around public food procurement for school meals. The morning sessions will delve into high-level policy discussions, setting the stage for the significant role cities play in shaping sustainable food systems.
