Quantum key distribution for secure communication
Continuous-variable quantum key distribution is a forthcoming technology for securing critical communication against attacks by quantum computers. Tobias Gehring, DTU Physics, will give you insight in this exciting technology.

In June 2024 Associate Professor Tobias Gehring, DTU Department of Physics, was awarded the Electro Award (Elektroprisen) for his demonstration of continuous-variable quantum key distribution operating over a world-record distance of 100 km and thus paving the way for secure communications in critical infrastructure such as the energy grid, freshwater and wastewater management, transportation, financial transactions, governmental communication, the military etc. This technology promises unparalleled resistance against attacks by quantum computers that are able to breach conventional methods.
In his talk Tobias Gehring will present the continuous-variable quantum key distribution technology, how it works, the research that led to this breakthrough, the implications of this technology on critical communications, its practical implementation and future work.
The lecture will be given in English.
During a break we'll serve mulled wine and Danish doghnuts (æbleskiver).
