Denmark in Space: From Classroom to the Moon

Aalborg University (AAU), AAU Satlab and Space Inventor invite you to an exciting evening where we explore the space activities unfolding in Northern Jutland, and the journey that brought us here!

Topic A: Research and Education in Space

Student representatives from AAU Satlab will share their experiences in AAU’s thriving space ecosystem, which has been active since 2001. They will present the latest progress on AAUSAT6, a mission featuring an in‑orbit testbed that enables in-orbit demonstration of student- and research-projects.

Associate Professor Israel Leyva Mayorga, leader of the soon to open Space Tech Center, will introduce the new Center and explain how it will revolutionize research and education at AAU. He will also reveal some of the exciting initiatives set to launch soon.

Topic B: Máni - The first Danish-Led mission to the Moon

Máni which is the first Danish-led mission to be sent out of Earth’s orbit, has an ambitious goal of creating High-Resolution Topographic maps of the Lunar surface. This effort is crucial for identifying safe landings sites and improving the safety of future explorative missions. You will learn about the mission’s core concepts, its unique observation strategy driving the mission and the local contributions to the mission.

Space Inventor invites you behind the scenes for a tour of their facilities, where you will be met by a 1:1 model of the Máni Satellite, boasting a footprint larger than a washing machine.
