The webinar is organized in cooperation with Space Exploration Denmark.

Denmark has a goal of achieving climate neutrality in 2050, so green transition is high on the agenda. A significant part of the green transition should be enabled through new science and technologies. Space already plays an important role in identifying climate change and contributing to green transition and protection of our nature, environment and biodiversity.

In this webinar, experts discuss which role space exploration has in solving some of the greatest challenges towards 2050.

Get the latest news from the climate observatory ASIM’s observations of giant lightenings in the atmosphere, and hear why ESA prioritized the utilization of this platform for earth observation, after their experiences with ASIM. Among other initiatives, ISS has been equipped with the new external platform Bartolomeo, which with plug and play abilities is ready to equip new instruments.

The next mission of Andreas Mogensen will present a unique opportunity to display technologies, which also have uses in green transition. The date for Andreas Mogensens next mission has not yet been determined, but is expected within a few years. The webinar should therefore also inspire Danish scientists and companies to come up with green experiments for the mission.

 Programme:

  • Welcome. Thomas E.A. Andersen DAC
  • ASIMs climate observations from the spacestation and how we made it possible? Torsten Neubert, DTU
  • Space Community Interests in the ISS as a platform for Earth observation. Sebastien Vincent-Bonnieu, Project scientist ESA
