Game preproduction is often where good ideas stall out. Without a solid framework, early planning quickly turns into endless debate. We are hosting a hands-on workshop at IDA GameDev to break that cycle.
We are bringing in industry specialists to pass on some theory. They will share the exact workflows they use to get games out of the planning phase.
● Atash Qasim, Lead Game Designer at SYBO
● Simon Dremel, Former Game Director at SYBO
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask direct questions about surviving preproduction. Then the room goes to work. We will divide the room into groups and
hand out a surprise creative prompt.
Teams will have under two hours to brainstorm a concept and build a pitch. The objective is to collaborate, test a rapid workflow, and see what happens when a hard deadline forces a creative decision.
The Schedule
● 17:30: Doors open. Grab a drink and settle in.
● 18:00: The Reality Check. Our guest talks through their preproduction workflow.
● 18:30: Team formation and a quick icebreaker.
● 18:45: The Exercise. Work with your group to plan a project pitch.
● 20:45: The Pitch. Share your concept with the room.
● 21:00: Hard stop. See you at the next one.
