The principle of ear-centered sensing is introduced and exemplified  through measuring electroenchalography (ear-EEG). The electrical instrumentation and signal processing challenges posed by an ear sensor are discussed and measurement results are presented. The application perspectives within health monitoring are discussed including  the possibel application of AI for long term monitoring. The longer term perspectives includes multimodal sensing in  medical devices and consumer products.
