More about the two presentations:
- The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) relies on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to set standards for product environmental performance, minimizing impacts from raw materials to disposal by assessing energy, materials, durability, and repairability. Karen Andreassen will present the ways in which LCA has been embedded including the chosen methodology and key assumptions. Karen will also talk about how ESPR implementing measures are connected to other EU product policies and EU sustainable finance such as taxonomy and ESG requirements.
- TBD will focus on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and its increasing integration into regulatory frameworks related to sustainable construction. NN will present the hierarchy of relevant standards, Product Category Rules (PCR), and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) that underpin these developments, and explain the methodological basis supporting this structure. Furthermore, the presentation will address expected future developments in the EU regarding LCA, including the anticipated transition from EPDs to integrating environmental data directly into CE marking. In this context, NN will also emphasize the importance of credible documentation and robust calculations.
