As an engineer, your value is often judged by your ability to simplify complexity and communicate its implications to non-technical stakeholders, product managers, and leadership. This workshop focuses on the final frontier of confidence: projecting competence, clarity, and influence in your most critical communication moments.
In this 3-hour experiential workshop, you will:
- Master the "Engineering Executive Summary": Practice the 3-part framework for communicating complex technical issues:
- 1) The Business Impact, 2) The Recommendation, and 3) The Technical Rationale (in that order).
- Practice Proactive Communication: Learn to anticipate questions and frame information to manage expectations and preempt potential objections before they are raised.
- The Power of Storytelling: Move beyond technical jargon to use analogy, metaphor, and data visualization to make your technical message relatable and memorable to any audience.
- Body Language & Delivery: Analyze and adjust your non-verbal cues (posture, eye contact, tone) to project authority and confidence, regardless of your role or age.
- High-Stakes Scenarios: Engage in a simulated "town hall" or "emergency briefing" to practice delivering impactful communication when presenting risks, asking for resources, or challenging a major decision in front of leadership.
You’ll leave with the tools and presence to:
- Present complex data in a way that drives immediate, clear decision-making.
- Confidently pitch a project or challenge the status quo to senior leaders.
- Lead a technical meeting without losing control of the agenda or the room.
- Ensure your message is understood and acted upon by stakeholders across the business.
