Counselling about corporate structure, tax, or R&D rules
Morten leads a department focused on startups and growth companies. The department helps startups make the right choices, so founders avoid mistakes and get the most out of special Danish tax rules.
Key areas include super immediate deduction for R&D, R&D tax credit, stock option programs, and tax optimization in connection with investments and exit.
Corporate structure in scalable startups, tax advice pre-investment, founder perspective
This presentation reviews the most important considerations for founders regarding corporate structure and holding companies, which should be considered before raising investment!
The focus is on how to minimize risk and optimize upside at exit, as well as how to ensure maximum ownership and value as a founder, with reduced risk.
Concrete advice is given on when and why it can be beneficial to establish a holding company, and how to best prepare to attract investors.
Tax rules for research and development (R&D) for high-tech startups – Danish Tax Act § 8b and § 8x
This presentation covers the key tax rules for R&D and tech startups, especially the opportunities for immediate deduction and tax credit.
It explains how Danish Tax Act § 8b allows for immediate deduction of development costs at more than 100%, and how § 8x (“super immediate deduction” and “tax credit scheme”) can improve liquidity for startups that have costs (invest) in research and development.
An overview is also given of which types of development costs can be deducted, and what to be aware of regarding software development and new legislative proposals.
Morten is part of the Ministry of Taxation’s special committee working on the definition of what can be considered R&D.
