Get a mentor - your personal sparring partner

Perhaps you are new to the labour market and need sparring to help you settle in? Or maybe you're about to become a manager for the first time and need a confidential space to discuss the process.

What can you expect to gain as a mentee - and what do we expect from you?

  • Gain a confidential space where sensitive topics can be discussed.
  • Better opportunities to set goals for your career development.
  • New insights from an experienced person with a professional understanding of your industry.
  • You are employed and have less than 2 years of job experience for participation in a 6-month program.
  • You are employed and have more than 2 years of job experience for participation in a 9-month program.

Process of registration

Our generel mentor programme has two annual matching rounds, where it is possible to be assigned a mentor or mentee. These rounds take place in February and September.

You can sign up for the mentoring program by creating a user account on our mentoring platform. When the next round starts, we will "let you in" to the platform, where you can create your profile. If you (as a mentee) create an account in December, you will be able to complete your mentee profile and choose a mentor in February. Mentors can always sign you up and create a mentor profile. However, it is only in February and September that they can be assigned a mentee.

Matching mentors and mentees

Based on your profile, you will be presented with two to three potential mentors, from which you can request one to become your mentor. Remember that your profile can be read by multiple mentors, so do not write any private or sensitive information.

If you find a good match and the mentor accepts your request, the registration becomes binding. Naturally, IDA cannot guarantee personal chemistry between the mentor and mentee.

You will have mentor-meetings approximately every 4-6 weeks. A typical meeting will last 1,5 hours and the mentee will be responsible for setting the agenda for the meeting.

How long does a mentor programme last?

  • 6-month programme: a 6-month mentoring programme for recent graduates with a maximum of two years' work experience.
  • 9-month programme: a 9-month mentoring programme for anyone with more than two years' work experience.

You meet with your mentor approximately every 4-6 weeks. As a mentee, you set the agenda, as the focus is on your career. The meetings typically last 1.5 hours. For both programmes, both mentor and mentee must be employed to participate.

After the match:

After the match, you are invited to the mandatory IDA Mentor Kick-off

At the kick-off, we will go through the framework of the mentor program and present a range of tools that you can use in the mentor relationship. You will also meet your mentor or mentee.

Additionally, there is a Mentor Master Class for all current and former matched mentors with a relevant theme for mentors, followed by a light meal in Copenhagen (provided there are 12 participants). Travel reimbursement will also be possible in this context.
