You can get a tax deduction for your IDA membership fee
You can receive a tax deduction for your IDA membership fee — even if you are unemployed, on parental leave, or enrolled in an educational programme.
IDA reports all membership fees paid during the year directly to the Danish Tax Agency, so you do not need to take any action yourself.
For retired members, the IDA membership fee is not tax‑deductible.
If you work while receiving a pension or early retirement benefits, you are still considered economically active and will be placed in the membership category for employees/self‑employed. If you work fewer than five hours per week, you may choose whether you wish to be placed in the pensioner category in which case you will not have access to legal counselling or career advice, and your membership fee will not be reported for tax deduction or remain in the category for active members.
If you receive a civil servant pension or early retirement benefits, you may still be eligible for a tax deduction for your membership fee.
If you have tax residency abroad or a similar special tax status, please contact IDA to learn about your options.
Conflict Fund and Bargaining Law
As a member of IDA you contribute to IDAs Conflict Fund, used to provide financial support to member who lose their salary due to strike or lockout.
The contribution to the conflict fund is 0.25 DKK per quarter.
The following membership groups do not contribute to the conflict fund:
- Self-employed members
- Retired members
- Student members
- Members working outside the profession in which IDA do not hold bargaining rights (e.g., officers, upper‑secondary school teachers, electricians) and who are members of another union that holds the bargaining rights on their behalf.
