Understanding the Darkweb and its CTI value for cybersecurity

The Darkweb has been serving as a platform for cybercriminals to carry out their operations, while maintaining their anonymity. Understanding the properties of the Darkweb and its hosted platforms, such as marketplaces, vendor shops, and forums, can provide insight into cybercrime operations and actionable Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI). CTI can contribute toward gaining knowledge of the threat landscape and enhance preparedness , ultimately leading to more secure systems and the mitigation of potential attacks.

Bio: Dimitrios is a postdoctoral researcher at AAU, founder of Selene-CTI, and visiting scholar at the Cybercrime Center of Cambridge University (2022-2023). His research has been focusing on botnets, the darkweb, cybercrime operations, cybercrime economics,  and Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI). Since the summer of 2024 he have been acting as PI and Dev Lead for his CTI project Selene, funded by the IFD.
