AC-V2G Demonstration

V2G in Practice – a demonstration of AC-V2G using passenger cars and AC charging.
In this session, Zaptec, Spirii, and Polestar will address the challenges involved in delivering V2G in a practical demonstration, as well as the issues related to obtaining approval in real-world scenarios. The demonstration closely follows the recommendations from Task 53 and the explanations provided by Energinet in the previous presentations.

The goal is to demonstrate the potential of using a passenger car at a fixed location and to clarify the challenges that may arise when attempting to do the same with multiple, arbitrary vehicles at changing locations and across different service providers.

Lisa Calearo is a Senior R&D Engineer at Spirii, working in the Future Tech department. She earned her Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark in 2022, focusing on the integration of electric vehicles into power systems. Prior to her current position, Lisa gained valuable experience working for nearly two years in the power system department at Rambøll. At Spirii, she leads the innovation efforts for various Europe-wide projects in collaboration with external partners, scopes and develops R&D initiatives, and actively promotes innovation across the organization to commercialize new services, functions, and ideas.

Mette Marie Knudsen is Managing Director of Zaptec Denmark and has extensive experience within electric mobility, charging infrastructure and the energy transition.

She works at the intersection of technology, business development and the power system, with a strong focus on scalable charging solutions, grid integration and future-proof infrastructure. At Zaptec, she leads the Danish organization and works closely with utilities, charge point operators and automotive partners on bringing new charging technologies - including bidirectional charging - into real-world operation.

Mette Marie regularly participates in industry collaborations and innovation projects focused on smart charging, flexibility and the role of electric vehicles in the energy system.

Steffen Nederby Høj is responsible for Polestar’s strategy and business development, as well as product and network operations in Denmark. As employee number two at Polestar Denmark, Steffen has been one of the key drivers behind the successful launch of the Swedish performance brand in the country.

In addition to holding a Master’s degree (Cand. Merc.) in International Business from Copenhagen Business School, Steffen has over 20 years of international experience from key positions at various automotive manufacturers within the EU. He has a strong technical interest and has spent the past 10 years primarily working with strategy related to electric vehicles, technology, and sustainability. During this period, he spent several years on the board of Dansk e-Mobilitet and helped realize the world’s first vehicle-to-grid research projects and real-life cases involving series-produced electric cars.

Driven by his strong interest in research, Steffen also served as a supervisor for two Master’s theses on V2G at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) during 2023–2024.

Steffen has extensive experience participating in public debates and panel discussions in relevant contexts, such as Folkemødet. As a fun fact, Steffen is the first Dane to obtain a racing license in an electric car. This took place in the spring of 2023 as a combination of professional development and a demonstration of how far electric vehicles have come since their early beginnings more than a decade ago.
