International talent

Too few are graduating in STEM subjects. To meet the growing demand for highly skilled professionals, Denmark must remain open to international specialists and secure attractive jobs in Denmark, benefiting both IDA members and society as a whole.

New technologies and materials, digitalisation and global value chains are all driving increased demand for highly educated and specialised talent.

Denmark educates a limited number of graduates in engineering, science and related fields. As a result, it is not possible to meet employers’ demand for every type of specialist expertise solely through talent educated in Denmark.

For this reason, it is important that Denmark remains open and attractive to highly skilled international specialists if we want to maintain strong and rewarding career opportunities in Denmark for both IDA members and the wider workforce.

Based on this perspective, IDA works to ensure that Denmark is an attractive place for highly skilled international specialists to live and work. We also advocate for the policies and recruitment schemes needed to attract this type of talent from countries outside the EU and EEA.

In an international context, the Danish labour market is both relatively small and largely unknown to many people. Therefore, IDA also works to promote the career opportunities, professional development prospects and healthy work–life balance that the Danish labour market has to offer.
