Experience China and Mongolia on a unique tour.

On this tour, you will have the opportunity to experience the Forbidden City, the Great Wall of China, the Ming Tombs, the Temple of Heaven, and the Summer Palace in Beijing. Afterward, the journey continues by train through the countryside to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, where you will visit monasteries, museums, national parks, and a Mongolian nomadic family, among other highlights.
The trip takes place from May 1–13, 2027, and a Danish tour leader will accompany the group throughout the journey.

Along the way, you will have the chance to get up close to Mongolian culture and experience how nomads have lived for centuries in traditional round felt tents. At the ger camp, you can enjoy the peace and quiet, the natural surroundings, and the clear, starry sky over the steppes.
Here is your travel itinerary
May 1: Departure from Copenhagen
We meet our tour leader at Copenhagen Airport at 16:00. At 19:05, we depart on a direct flight to Beijing with Air China. The flight time is approximately 8 hours and 40 minutes, and meals are served on board.
May 2: Beijing and welcome dinner
Arrival in Beijing at 10:00 local time. After arriving, we meet our local guide and driver and travel to our resort near the Ming Tombs. In the evening, we enjoy a welcome dinner.
May 3: The Great Wall and the Ming Tombs
We make an early start for the Badaling section of the Great Wall, where we experience the wall itself and walk part of the way up the steps to the higher sections. Later, we visit the Dingling Tomb and the Changling Ming Tomb.
May 4: The Ming Tombs, tea ceremony, and the Olympic area
We visit the Dingling and Zhaoling Ming Tombs. At Dingling, you can descend into the underground burial chamber, located 27 meters below ground. Later, we experience a local tea ceremony and make a photo stop at the Olympic area.
May 5: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven
We walk through Tiananmen Square and continue through the Gate of Heavenly Peace into the Forbidden City, which served as the center of the Chinese empire for over 500 years. Later, we visit the Temple of Heaven, a site used for worshipping the heavens and praying for a bountiful harvest.
May 6: The Summer Palace, hutongs, and Peking duck
We visit the Summer Palace, one of the world's largest imperial gardens. After lunch, we tour Beijing’s traditional hutongs, where you can experience the local life and the atmosphere of these historic neighborhoods. In the evening, we enjoy the famous Peking duck at a local restaurant.
May 7: Train to Ulaanbaatar
After an early breakfast, we check out and head to the railway station. The train to Ulaanbaatar departs at 07:27. We travel in "hard sleeper" class, with four people per compartment. We arrive the following day at 14:35.
May 8: Ulaanbaatar and traditional Mongolian entertainment
Upon arrival, we are met by a driver and local guides. We take a city tour, visiting sites such as Sukhbaatar Square and the Parliament Building, where a massive statue of Genghis Khan dominates the grand staircase. In the evening, we attend a performance by a national ensemble featuring traditional Mongolian songs and instruments, including the morin khuur (horse-head fiddle) and throat singing.
May 9: Nomadic family and Gorkhi-Terelj National Park
We drive to the Nalukhai area to visit a Mongolian family. Afterward, we head to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, where we see sights such as Turtle Rock and the area around the Three Friends Cave. We also visit a Mongolian nomadic family to gain insight into their way of life. There is an opportunity for horseback riding, and the day concludes with a traditional Mongolian Horhog meal. We spend the night in a traditional ger (yurt) equipped with a private toilet.
May 10: Genghis Khan and Ulaanbaatar
We visit the enormous equestrian statue of Genghis Khan before returning to Ulaanbaatar. In the afternoon, we continue with a city tour, visiting the Bogd Khan Palace Museum, among other sites. The day also includes a visit to Zaisan Hill, offering panoramic views of Ulaanbaatar and the surrounding landscape.
May 11: Gandan Monastery, Genghis Khan Museum, and cashmere
We visit Gandan Monastery, Mongolia’s largest and most important Buddhist monastery. Afterward, we head to the Genghis Khan Museum, which chronicles Mongolia's history through an extensive collection of artifacts. We also visit the State Department Store and Cashmere World, where there is an opportunity to browse and purchase Mongolian cashmere and other local products.
May 12: Return to Beijing
We take an early flight from Ulaanbaatar to Beijing. For the rest of the day, we follow our tour guide around Beijing and have the opportunity to explore the city at our own pace. In the evening, we gather for a farewell dinner to share our travel memories.
May 13: Journey home
After breakfast, there is free time before we head to the airport in the late morning. We fly directly from Beijing at 13:25 and land in Copenhagen at 17:05.
