The rise of connectivity and digitalization, combined with the race for bringing artificial intelligence into every aspect of our daily life, is rapidly changing our society and shaping its future development. In particular, the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution is creating a world in which everyday objects are connected to the Internet, making computing pervasive like never before. In this technological and societal revolution, cybersecurity has dramatically been too neglected, exposing society to a potential safety (life-threatening) and security disaster. This seminar will give a security perspective on the ongoing digital revolution, showing how hackers can control our life if we don’t urgently take cybersecurity seriously into consideration.

Please note that the talk is meant to address a general audience, non expert in IT and cybersecurity. Consequently, the talk will not cover technical details of cybersecurity attacks.

About the speaker:
Nicola Dragoni is Professor in Secure Pervasive Computing at DTU Compute, Technical University of Denmark, where he also serves as Head of the DTU Center for Digital Security (DIGISEC) and Deputy Head of the DTU Compute’s PhD School. Nicola Dragoni received the M.Sc. (cum laude) and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of Bologna, Italy. His main research interests currently centre around pervasive computing and security. He has co-authored 130+ peer-reviewed scientific papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He has edited 3 journal special issues and 1 book. He has been active in a number of national and international projects.
