Jet fuel is far from climate-neutral. Air traffic emits over 1 billion tons of CO2 annually, accounting for 3% of all global carbon emissions. The same goes for marine fuel. With 100.000 commercial vessels consuming some 300 MTons fuel p.a. global shipping accounts for around 3% of global carbon emissions. Decarbonizing the aviation and maritime industry in line with the Paris Agreement requires new fuel types and a systemic industry-wide transformation.

Government leaders are expressing their desire to see emissions from these two sectors reduced, with clear targets being set across the globe. The Danish Prime Minister announced an ambition of flying green in her New Year Speech: “By 2025 at the latest, Danes must have the opportunity to fly green on a domestic route. And by 2030 at the latest, we must be able to fly completely green when we fly domestically in Denmark. Will it be difficult? Yes. Is it possible? Yes I think so. We are already on our way. Skilled researchers and companies are working on the solutions.”

To follow up on the ambitions of the Prime Minister, we invite you to come and meet some of these researchers and companies, and to discuss potentials, technologies, and opportunities. Also, to hear from the ongoing Innovation Fund Denmark funded project LowCarbFuels and the upcoming InnoMission 2 Green fuels for transport and industry. You can also hear from Denmark’s two upcoming IPCEI (Important Projects of Common European Interest), the EU-funded ALIGHT project and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ HØST PtX Esbjerg, as well as the newly announced Fjord PtX Aalborg projects.

You will be able to meet and network with LowCarbFuels project partners:

AAU, Steeper Energy, Crossbridge Energy Fredericia, DLR, IFPEN, Alfa Laval, Mærsk, GreenFuelHub, SkyNRG, Aalborg Airport, Billund Airport, Aarhus Airport, DCC/Shell Aviation, Port of Aalborg, Port of Aarhus, Cowi, ECD and Haldor Topsøe.
