Two-day foundational course in Lean principles, tools, techniques, as well as Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and process improvements.
Lean principles and tools
Certified Lean Yellow Belt is your first step into a new universe. It is an intensive and hands-on program where we introduce you to the Lean mindset and the 5 Lean principles. We provide you with concrete Lean tools and techniques, focusing on methods such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Kaizen Board Meetings. We strive to make the teaching dynamic and always put it into perspective with your own company or organization, so you are well-prepared to take the tools home and lead or participate in Lean activities.
In the Lean Yellow Belt course, you will work on:
Day 1:
- Introduction to the history of Lean
- The 5 Lean principles
- The 8 types of waste
- Overview of Lean tools and techniques
- Kaizen - how do we create continuous improvements
- Visual management
- Lean in practice through Lean games, exercises and cases
Day 2:
- Value Stream Mapping (VSM) - process mapping
- Exercises in Lean tools
- Improvement suggestions for the Value Stream
- Prioritizing improvement suggestions
- Goal setting and customer expectations
- Kaizen Board meetings
- Challenges in implementation
The course is for those who want to be introduced to Lean.
It is aimed at managers, project managers, and employees who want to be introduced to Lean and learn the structured approach to optimization that Lean thinking and tools provide. In the course, you choose between the Lean Service & Administration track and the Lean Production track, so the course and tools fit the organization you are a part of.
Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites for participation in the Certified Lean Yellow Belt course.

Instructor
Kion Schmeltzer
Kion has over 25 years of teaching experience in Lean Six Sigma. He himself has achieved the highest Six Sigma certification level – the Black Master Belt, making him one of the most highly qualified trainers in the industry. Kion has primarily gained his extensive Lean Six Sigma experience through a long career, including roles at General Electric (GE) in Norway and Sweden.
