Achieve success and successful projects with IDA's project management course
If you know how and when to incorporate the tools in a timely manner into the project, you are certainly already an excellent project manager. Regardless of whether you have existing experience as a project manager or are new to the role, this course will prepare you well for the role.
Master the most important tools in project management
In the course, you will gain a thorough understanding of the project manager's toolbox when we delve into the project form as a working method. You will learn the basic project management tools such as stakeholder analysis, risk analysis and milestone planning, as well as how to use them in project work. You will also gain insight into the project's environment and learn to incorporate important factors such as sustainability into your project.
We will review the project triangle as a basic tool for you as a project manager in your collaboration with the steering committee. Throughout the course, you will apply the tools you learn in groups on a continuous basis on a comprehensive case.
After the course, you will be able to implement effective projects as a project manager on smaller projects. You will get a good understanding of the foundation of the project manager's work, so to speak.
A successful project starts with successful and qualified planning and is implemented through good communication
In the project management course, we also work consistently with project planning and estimating. You will become very skilled at defining deliverables and milestones in the project and also learn to use estimation and the critical path in planning. This gives both you as a project manager and your project participants a measurable guideline throughout the project.
You will also get a thorough overview of the project organization, and you will be fully aware of defining the roles of your stakeholders and project tenants in the project. This makes it much easier for you as a project manager to carry out the appropriate communication, also with the steering committee and project team, during the project. When you have control of communication, it is easier to live up to the project manager's responsibility to create effective, respectful and motivating cooperation with the rest of the team.
In the project management course you will work with:
- The project work method - what is a project and how do you work with a project?
- The project toolbox - the basic tools to plan and complete a project on time and with agreed resources
- The project triangle - create coherence between time, resources and content - and align expectations with your steering group
- Goal formulation, planning, estimation and critical path
- Development of a business case - why is the project justified, and what exactly does the project deliver?
- Risk and stakeholder analysis
- Project organization and the project's environment
The course is for those who are/will be project managers
The course is for those who are already project managers and want to get an overview of a project, its content and method, as well as those who are going to manage a project for the first time.
Are you facing a specific project? Have you successfully completed several projects, but are spending unnecessary time and frustration on the same obstacles along the way each time? Whether you are a completely new project manager or have worked with projects for years, there is still a lot to learn on the course.
After the course you will be able to:
- understand and apply the basic project methods and tools
- create a realistic project plan
- work proactively with the project triangle
- communicate successfully with the project steering committee and stakeholders
- understand the management processes in a project
- be aware of your role and responsibilities as a project manager (and not least what is not your responsibility)
With the right project management skills, the chance of a project being successfully completed is significantly increased - i.e. the project delivers what was agreed upon at the agreed time and resources. It is therefore important that the project manager is well prepared for the task.
After the course in project management, you will have an employee who can:
- implement both internal and external projects successfully
- provide qualified sparring to stakeholders and management
- lead and motivate across departments and interests
- involve and engage steering groups and stakeholders based on an understanding of their special interests and challenges in the project
