Expected timeline for OK26

See the timeline for OK26 – the public sector collective bargaining negotiations for the state, municipalities and regions in 2026.

OK26 will unfold in five phases from start to finish. Here you can see what will happen and when:

1. Member involvement in IDA

August 2024 – June 2025

OK26 will start with IDA's public sector members, who will provide their input on changes and improvements in two member surveys and a webinar:

  • August 2024: Member survey 1
  • February-March 2025: Member survey 2
  • 25 March 2025: Webinar on OK26

Members' input will then be processed and prioritised by IDA Public Sector and IDA's executive committee before being finally approved by the Council of Employees.

2. Coordination in negotiating communities

September - November 2025

The trade unions choose to negotiate together in communities, as we are stronger when there are many of us. IDA negotiates together with the other academic trade unions in Akademikerne (AC).

Here, we agree on the demands we want to raise with employers during the negotiations.

In the state sector, Akademikerne also negotiates through the cooperation organisation CFU - Centralorganisationernes Fælles Udvalg (Joint Committee of Central Organisations).

A demand must therefore be approved by many other trade unions before it can be brought to the negotiating table during collective agreement negotiations. This may mean that a demand may be rejected because we must agree with the community to put it forward.

3. Exchange of demands

December 2025

Together with the other academic trade unions, we will formally exchange demands with public sector employers in December 2025.

See IDA's demands to employers – and their counter-demands to us

4. Negotiations on the collective agreement

January – February 2026

The actual negotiations on new collective agreements will take place in January–February 2026. Here, the trade unions will negotiate with public sector employers in the state, municipalities and regions.

Many factors determine whether a demand will be implemented. Among other things, it depends on whether employers agree with the reasons for a demand and whether there is sufficient funding to implement it.

5. Negotiation results and vote

Spring 2026

If a negotiation result is achieved and an agreement is reached in OK26 for employees in the state, municipalities and regions, it will be put to a vote among IDA's public sector members in spring 2026. We expect this to take place in March-April.

IDA will publish the result at the same time as the other academic unions in our umbrella organisation Akademikerne.

If the overall result is approved by all the academic unions, the negotiations will be complete and your new collective agreement will come into force. The agreed improvements and changes will thus become part of your terms of employment.

If the result is not approved, it may end in a dispute.
