Geothermal projects are often associated with exploration and drilling risk. However, many of the conditions that determine project success or failure are established long before a drilling rig arrives on site.
Poor project selection, uncertain assumptions, insufficient technical understanding, weak commercial foundations and inadequate project organisation can result in significant time and capital being invested in opportunities that are not sufficiently mature.
This webinar presents a structured approach to geothermal project development in which risks are identified, assessed and progressively reduced as a project moves from initial screening and feasibility through exploration, development and production.
The webinar will explore how a commercial roadmap and stage-gated development process can help project owners identify critical uncertainties early, determine what needs to be known before committing further capital, and establish clear criteria for progressing — or stopping — a project.
Practical approaches to risk mitigation will also be discussed, including subsurface investigation, drilling and contracting strategies, public funding, insurance mechanisms, internal capabilities, project standardisation and portfolio diversification.
The objective is not to eliminate geothermal risk, but to identify the right risks at the right time, reduce or allocate them where possible, and create a stronger basis for successful project development and investment decisions.
This Webinar is For
- Geothermal developers and project owners
- Energy and district-heating companies
- Project managers and engineers
- Drilling and well professionals
- Investors and financial stakeholders
- Geothermal service and supply-chain companies
- Policymakers and public-sector stakeholders
